Morgan Haber partnered with Marc Cars Australia recently in the globally renowned Bathurst 12H and was behind the wheel of the Stix V8 Mazda, which can only be described as a V8 Supercar inside the shell of a Mazda. The cars are custom made on the Gold Coast by Racer Industries and specialise in endurance races, primarily the Creventic 24H Series, which is staged across Europe and the Middle East.
The #93 Darrell Lea Stix car was strong all weekend and with an extremely strong team behind the wheel in Morgan, Jake Camilleri and Aaron Seton, they were the quickest of the 5 Marc Cars Australia entries in practice and qualifying.
Racing in the Invitational Class, the category were not allowed to run under a 2m 10s lap otherwise they were penalised. The quickest lap time by the team set on Sunday’s race was by Morgan who clocked a 2m 11s.
With only 1 minor incident involving the #93 car in which young gun Seton found contact with the pit straight wall, the car was towed out and rejoined the race still with a healthy lead. Seton came in having only lost 2 laps and handed the car back over to Haber who within 30 minutes regained the 2 lost laps and was back in control with a 7 lap lead on their closest rival.
Jake Camilleri brought the car home in the final stint and after 12 hours on track, the #93 Stix car crossed the line in 1st place. The experience of the team was not only just behind the wheel, their Engineer was racing legend Glenn Seton, who brought a wealth of knowledge to the young team and together, they enjoyed the ultimate result.
Next on the agenda for Morgan is to finalise a deal for the 2016 racing year and focus on finishing his University thesis in Mechanical Engineering.
